A New Project for The Canon Review

So for Christmas I got the WWE Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide to World Wrestling Entertainment. It's actually quite a good book, filled with profiles and full color pictures of just about every superstar in WWE history up until about 2008 or so. Yes, it's missing a few wrestlers like Luther Reigns, Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon, but overall, it's a very detailed and informative look into WWE history. If I had to review it, I'd give it an 8.7 out of 10. However, that's not really the point of this post. The point is that I will be undertaking a new project in which I watch at least one video of every entry in this book. That includes wrestlers, tag teams, pay-per-views, whatever. To accomplish this, I have set a few guidelines for me to follow.

- I will be using Google Video to search for videos, and the video I watch will correspond with the page number that the subject's profile can be found on in the encylopedia. For example, Ahmed Johnson appears on page 9, so I will type in Ahmed Johnson and go down to the ninth video.
- In some cases, the subject will not have enough videos to match up with the page number. For example, Xanta Claus is on page 361. Well, Xanta Claus does not have 361 videos on the web. In this case, I would subtract the number of videos listed from the original page number. Let's say Xanta Claus has 228 videos (he doesn't, just using a random number here). Well, I would subtract that from 361, getting 133. Which means I would watch the 133rd video on the list.
- If I happen to type in a term and the corresponding video has nothing to do with the wrestler, I will then divide the number in half and continue to do so until I can watch a relevant video of the subject. That way, I won't end up watching a stupid v-log about Jeff Hardy just because the maker of the video typed in a bunch of names in order to get more hits.
- I will not limit myself to just WWF videos, but I will try to watch just wrestling videos. In the case of say, a Dan Severn, I might watch one of his UFC matches, but I will not be watching John Cena in a scene from the Marine or something like that. Also, if the video I get is just an interview, well, that's the video I will watch.

Well, that's that. I won't be doing this every day, maybe two or three times a week at most, with each post featuring around 15 videos or so. Hopefully, I'll be done with this by the end of the year, and have my first post on this project sometime tomorrow. Also, there will continue to be other posts on The Canon Review, like movie reviews and all the other stuff that has made this site the most popular site named thecanonreview.blogspot.com in the world. The 200th Canon Review Post

Before I begin, I must state that originally I was going to do a review for Fable III, but it occurred to me that I probably haven't played enough of the game to do a proper review on it. So, I'll hold off on that for a while, and hopefully I'll be able to deliver a proper review by the end of the week. Also, even though it may not seem like it judging from the infrequent updates on this blog, I do have a few other ideas I've been working on. So never fear, there will be more coming at the Canon Review in the near future. Just not tomorrow, as I will be busy and unable to be on the internet for any long period of time. But after tomorrow, you will be able to see the 201st post on The Canon Review. That's probably the least exciting announcement you will hear all weak, but it's an announcement nonetheless. As for me, I'm still in mourning over Georgia Tech's loss to Georgia on Saturday. I mean, you don't expect a kicker that has made 77 extra points in a row to miss one that would tie the game against their biggest rival and cost the team the game. Yes, it's good that the Falcons won against the Packers and the Hawks won three straight games in four days, but damn it, it would have been sweet for the Yellow Jackets to beat the Bulldogs. Now I have to hear UGA fans brag all year about their team's superiority over Tech, to go along with the taunting I receive from my sister after Tech lost to her school, Kennesaw State University, in basketball just two weeks ago. I don't really have a point here, just ranting.

An update about the lack of updates

For the past couple of days, I've been trying to rack my brain to come up with some topic to write about, or something to review, but for whatever reason, I just could not think of anything. I guess I have a case of writer's block or something. Actually, this has been the case pretty much all month, as I just can't seem to get motivated to post anything lately. So, I apologize for the lack of updates and, quite frankly, the downturn of quality around here the last few weeks. Hopefully, it's just a temporary setback and I'll be back to reviewing all sorts of crazy things in the upcoming weeks, probably starting tomorrow or early Saturday morning. So don't fret, all you Canon Review followers out there, because this train is going to keep on rolling. Now here's a video of Lex Luger talking:

An Announcement, and other stuff

No new review today, well maybe a slight review, but anyway. I would first of all like to plug the internet's only web-zine dedicated to wrestling video games. It is called Axe Bomber Magazine and features an exclusive interview with the creator of the upcoming XBOX 360 Arcade Game Action Arcade Wrestling. Also, I write a couple of pieces in it, so good for me. Axe Bomber Magazine was put together by my good friend Sonny Bone, and I must say that he did one heck of a job with it. Also, sometimes this week I will be developing another blog dedicated to discussing the best films of a certain year and expressing which film should have really won the Best Picture Oscar that year. We are going to start with 1980 and go from there, so look out for that in the next couple of days.

Tomorrow, I will watch and review V for Vendetta, which is something I told reader Ben W. I would do a week ago, while Wednesday will feature the big Canon Review NFL Preview. Spoiler Alert: Peyton Manning will be good next year, and the Buffalo Bills will not be so good. After that, we will see.
